Everyone can become a city maker and participate in creating a better, healthier, inclusive and sustainable environment.
To inspire and empower citizens, we proactively initiate campaigns and experiments.
To share experience, methods and tools, we engage in scientific research, teaching, writing, and publishing.
Feel free to contact us if you would like to collaborate.
The city challenges us to think about our shared future. Stadsform - an initiative of Endeavour, Pakhuis De Zwijger, Quares, and Dift - is a place in Antwerp for dialogue about the city of tomorrow. You are welcome to join us at one of our online or live events.
As our cities and spatial environments are dynamically transforming and expanding, we are confronted with urgent demographic, ecological and social challenges. Endeavour believes it is our responsibility as spatial professionals to provide the right frameworks to collectively face these challenges.
This requires us to radically rethink the way space is produced and organized. To reinvent or adapt the existing methods, processes and systems to design, plan, program and manage our environments. To develop a better understanding of how spatial environments are used, experienced and understood.
To include the knowledge of citizens and different professions, and to amplify voices which have remained silenced in the spatial debate. Endeavour works hard to help create the stage for an open dialogue on our collective future.
Hanne Van Gils
Hanne holds a master's degree in architecture and human settlements and at Endeavour she works extensively on space for youth, dialogue in the city, local stories, inclusive city, art integration, heritage, education, and creativity. She combines this with a research position at the University of Ghent where she focuses on the reuse of heritage sites and explores new ways of financing and involving the community.
Jakob is an urban and spatial planner by training. Within Endeavour, he works on a very wide range of assignments, always from a qualitative angle, working on projects about sustainable neighbourhoods, forest structures in urban areas and renewable energy, but also on issues such as playfulness and movement in public space and the living labs of the BRV.
Jan has a master's degree in Agogical Sciences and Urban Studies. Within Endeavour, Jan wants to open up city making through innovative housing and development models. He is also co-founder and curator of Stadsform - Endeavour's centre for dialogue about the city of tomorrow.
Jiska is an engineer-architect and fascinated by the way socio-economic ideologies influence daily life. She prefers to use narrative awareness in her search for inclusive answers to transition issues. In doing so, she checks ecological, sociological, economic and spatial challenges against abstract data analyses, actors' needs and complex spatial development scenarios on different scales.
Jonas De Maeyer
Jonas is an architect and master in urban and spatial planning and works within Endeavour on topics such as housing, urban transition, cultural and social spaces and behavioural change in a spatial context. Jonas was also co-founder of Heim, an initiative that focuses on arrival architecture and the integration of newcomers. He also coordinates the acquisition of projects within Endeavour.
Karolien is a graphic designer and photographer and works with the senses, the city, people and the perception of space through typographic play and spontaneous photography. Within Endeavour, Karolien ensures that everything looks good, from process diagrams and workshop canvases to photos. More info on Karolien's work can be found here.
Jorik De Wilde
Jorik is a construction engineer, an urbanist and a spatial planner. As an urbanist he focusses on topics like affordable, innovative housing solutions and participation in urban decision-making. To preserve a balance between theory and practice he is, next to his work within Endeavour, engaged in different kinds of social-artistic projects that work on the bottom-up shaping of the city for everybody.
Maarten is an architect, social entrepreneur and author of the book Gross National Happiness. He co-founded Endeavour and is responsible for management, partnerships and innovation. With Endeavour as well as with For Good and Stadsform, he always tries to make complex social themes such as sustainability and the city accessible. Maarten teaches at various universities and colleges in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Besides her training in interior architecture and furniture design, Sophie has a master's degree in urban planning, which allows her to work on both small and large scales. She loves action but also dreams. Within Endeavour, she mainly focuses on behavioural studies, interviews, people and tactical urbanism.
Tim is an engineer-architect, master in human settlements and doctor in social geography. He co-founded Endeavour, where he uses his skills as a spatial professional to stimulate innovation in city making, always learning from a diversity of voices. He is also a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Mobility and Spatial Planning (AMRP) at Ghent University and teaches at several universities in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Bert Timmermans is a historian and artist and holds a Phd. in the History of Art. The focus of his doctoral research was on the interactions between elite networks, spatial transitions and the art world in seventeenth-century Antwerp. In search of a conceptual framework for his research, he turned to social geography, the sociology of art and assemblage theory. At Endeavour, his interests focus on urban transition, regional and urban development and immovable heritage. In his artistic research he starts from the pioneers of media archaeology such as Warburg and Benjamin and experimental, modernist montage.
Caroline completed her studies in architecture with a master’s degree in Human Settlements. She helps cities in their transitions towards a sustainable future using expertise, dialogue, and participation. In doing so, she does not shy away from offering less obvious answers to challenges.
